Popular battle royale shooter PUBG Mobile on Friday unveiled its latest update, which lets players build and drive a Tesla Model Y.
The Mission Ignition 1.5 event features the automaker's Gigafactory, and players can "activate all switches of the assembly lines in the factory to start the car assembly process and build a Tesla vehicle -- Model Y." If the players don't die there first -- it's bound to be very popular. The factory exists on the map as part of a takeover by fictional tech company DynaHex, which has transformed the game's island of Erangel for the purposes of scientific research.
The Tesla Model Y naturally includes an Autopilot mode that activates when it's on highways and will drive to preset markers on the map.
PUBG Mobile first appeared in 2018 and was based on the genre-defining PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Vehicles have been a part of the game from the start and they're often necessary due to its large maps. Known as Game for Peace in China, where it is enormously popular, the app generated $2.7 billion in revenue in 2020, according to analyst SensorTower.Telsa does not operate a public relations department to field requests for comment.
